Firm Background
Satterfield Law Firm had its origins in 1953 when Billy L.Satterfield began the practice of law in Little Rock, Arkansas. After his service in the United States Navy, in the Pacific Theater of World War II, Mr. Satterfield obtained his law degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville School of Law. He was then an insurance adjuster, traveling throughout the State of Arkansas, and often used a court reporter named Virginia "Ginger" Harkey for sworn statements in his insurance claims. They became friends from this contact. Ginger later attended and graduated from the same law school in 1955 as the sole female law student for that year. She was top of her class, had the highest bar exam score that year, and became a deputy prosecuting attorney. She eventually opened a law office in Little Rock. Mr. Satterfield and Mrs. Atkinson practiced law as solo practitioners for many years in Little Rock.
In 1979 Bill's oldest child, Cindy Satterfield, now Cindy Moody, obtained her law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and entered the practice of law. His second child, Randy Satterfield, graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1981 and also began the practice of law. Bill retired from the practice of law after many years due to health problems related to his military service, but his children continued to practice law in Little Rock. Randy's daughter Laura is now a second year student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville School of Law.
In 2006, Ginger joined Randy and Cindy as "of counsel" with Satterfield Law Firm, PLC.
